OTT & Video
Uzbekistan

OTT video services have been globally booming for several years now, attracting a surging number of viewers around the world. But the competition is fierce between platforms, as newcomers continue to enter the market regularly, whether they are local, adressing their home market, or studio giants, like Disney with its service Disney+ that was progressively launched between 2019 and 2020.

OTT video players use several different model to distribute their content, including:

  • SVOD: subscription video on demand, a model deployed by platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max for instance
  • TVOD: transactional video on demand, the oldest on demand model, offered by Amazon Prime Video, or pay TV operators for instance
  • EST: electronic sell-through (also known as DTO, download to own)
  • AVOD: advertising video on demand, used by Youtube, Pluto TV, Plex or FTA broadcasters for instance

This module proposes a range of key performance quarterly indicators by actor and annual forecasts by country to understand the changes occurring in video consumption worldwide. In each country, we provide an overview of the whole video market from the classical digital supports (DVD, BluRay) to the new OTT platforms, including SVOD, TVOD, EST, AVOD and hybrid models.

Graphics and visualization tools enable us to grasp the market dynamics from first sight. Full data history and forecasts are summarized in downloadable tables, PDF or PPT.

The OTT & Video industry in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek video streaming industry has been thriving for the past two years, following an evolution that was seen accross other well developed CIS markets. Two of the country’s main pay TV operators launched their own video-on-demand services in early 2018 and early 2019: Ucell and Beeline Uzbekistan. If those have been reaching a significant number of households after a few quarters, the local SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) market is still dominated by Russian players with Ivi and Central Asia focused Amediateka accounting together for around 70% of the country’s subscribers.
